If I provide you with an updated PBIX file (due to dashboard changes), you’ll need to follow these steps to re-publish it and ensure the public link reflects the latest version.

Step 1: Re-upload the New PBIX File to Power BI Service

  1. Go to https://app.powerbi.com.

  2. Navigate to My Workspace.

  3. Click Import a file > From this device.

  4. Select the updated PBIX file provided and re-upload it.

⚠️ This will overwrite the previous PBIX file with the new version.

Step 2: Apply the Changes Inside the Report

  1. Inside My Workspace, click on the existing Report (the visual report, not the PBIX file or Dataset).

  2. Click Edit (top-right corner).

  3. Then click Save immediately (even if you don’t make manual edits).

💡 Why this step? This ensures that Power BI applies the latest changes from the new PBIX file, so users accessing the public link will see the updated dashboard.

Done!

Your public link now reflects the latest version of the report.
