Get Comfortable with Edge and Chrome: A Guide to Simplify Your Work Setup

Setting up your work environment can save you precious time and help you stay organized. This guide will help you configure Edge and Chrome for seamless use without needing to sign in repeatedly. Bookmarking key websites will also make your workflow more efficient.

Question 1: Is your work email Microsoft-based or Google-based?


If the Answer is Microsoft, Follow These Steps (Your Quest Begins!)



Step 1: Sign In to Microsoft Edge

  • Open Edge.

  • Go to the top-right corner where you see your profile icon.

  • Click on "Other profiles."

  • Sign in with your work email ID and complete the sync process.



Step 2: Customize Your Feed

  • During the setup, customize your feed layout to "Headings only." This keeps your browser organized and noise-free.


Step 3: Pin the New Edge Profile to Taskbar

  • Notice a new Edge window icon on your taskbar.

  • Right-click on this newly created icon and select "Pin to taskbar."


Step 4: Add an Avatar for Easy Identification

Step 5: Name Your Profile

Step 8: Quick Access to Microsoft Apps

  • Open a new tab in Edge.

  • On the top left, click on the 9 dots ("App Launcher").

Many companies use shared Gmail IDs for collaborative purposes. You can set this up as a new profile for easy access:



Step 1: Create a New Profile in Chrome

  • Open Chrome.

  • Go to the top-right corner and click on the profile icon.

  • Click "Add" to create a new profile.

  • Sign in with your shared Gmail ID and sync it.


Step 2: Pin the New Chrome Profile to Taskbar

🎯 Mission: Pin your new Chrome profile for quick access.

  • Similar to Edge, a new Chrome window will appear on your taskbar.

  • Right-click and pin this profile for quick access.


Step 3: Bookmark Key Websites

🎯 Mission: Bookmark essential sites for the profile.

  • Bookmark important websites for this profile (e.g., shared Google Drive links, frequently accessed tools).

  • Enable the bookmarks bar by going to "Bookmarks" > "Show Bookmarks Bar."
